36” Bronze
The first 36” limited edition sculpture of “Courage” was purchased by my brother-in-law John in memory of his wife, my sister Connie Sue Drotos and donated to the Summa Cancer Center in Akron, Ohio where she spent six years battling Cancer. Included with the sculpture was a cash donation to the center’s Cancer Support Services. This “Courage” will be displayed outside of the Summa Cancer Center’s therapy room so that before their Cancer patients walk into the room, they will pass the sculpture and can touch her, gaining strength from her for their ordeal to come. Or touch her on their way out of therapy for the courage to keep on fighting the battle. With the donation to the Cancer Support Services brought in with the purchase of “Courage”, the room can be outfitted to make the patient’s time there more comfortable.

"The Building of Courage” Book The book, The Building of “Courage”, is a diary in text and photography that takes the reader step-by-step through the building of the sculpture “Courage”. A sculpture standing in tribute to those who have, who are and who will battle Cancer. I take you from my very first dream of the sculpture through the creative process and the day-to-day building of the 36” clay maquette. The final chapter takes you into the foundry and through all the steps of the casting of the 36 inch “Courage”.
"Courage" Butterfly Necklace Since the unveiling of the sculpture, there have been many requests for the butterfly necklace that is on the sculpture "Courage".
“Butterflies were a favorite of my sister Connie; she said
they brought her peace, freedom and hope. At the cemetery after
her internment ceremony, her husband John who brought several Mylar
butterfly balloons, walked to the little lake alone and released
the butterflies as he had promised her. We all silently watched
as the wind suddenly came up and the butterflies took flight. Slowly
they rose into the air and maneuvered themselves up and around
the clouds, staying in sight and staying in the clear blue sky.
Up and up they drifted, slowly they left our sight and sailed to
the heavens. So of course I had to have a butterfly on ‘Courage'.” For more information on these pieces or to place
